Let It Shine, Let It Shine, Let It Shine!
Jesus said, “The world hates me because I accuse it of doing evil” (John 7:7/PJ paraphrase).
In this verse, Jesus gave us valuable insight as to why the unsaved world often hates authentic followers of Jesus: If we take a stand against evil, we are also standing alongside Jesus—and the world hates that. Why? Because whenever the light is shown on evil, the Holy Spirit convicts the world of their sin, and they can’t handle the exposure. You see, the Holy Spirit will convict unbelievers of sinful behavior when believers “shine like lights in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation.”
However, if a so-called believer chooses to remain silent about evil and not stand alongside Jesus, he or she is not a threat to the world. In fact, any lukewarm, insipid believer is rarely respected by either side. Jesus tells us in Revelation that He “spews (lukewarm believers) out of His mouth.” It’s His way of saying, “Your unwillingness to take a stand with Me makes Me sick to My stomach.”
Maybe we should take another look at an old Sunday school song most churchgoers sang as children. But before you sing it, just remember you can sing a lie as well as tell a lie.
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine—let it shine, let it shine, let it shine…
Won’t let Satan blow it out, I’m gonna let it shine—let it shine, let it shine, let it shine…
Hide it under a bushel, NO!, I’m gonna let it shine—let it shine, let it shine, let it shine…
Let it shine ‘til Jesus comes, I’m gonna let it shine—let it shine, let it shine, let it shine…
The world needs to SEE believers LIVE this song again. So let your light shine, let it shine, let it shine!
